Free Books for Moor Nook School

I am pleased to announce that I have nominated Moor Nook Primary School, Preston to receive £100 worth of National Book Tokens after taking part in the Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS) Westminster Quiz.

As one of the first 70 participants to complete the quiz, I was able to win the book tokens for a school of my choice, based in my constituency. I chose Moor Nook School because it is an inclusive school in the Ribbleton area and I know the pupils who attend the school will enjoy some new books on the school library shelves. Promoting reading for pleasure among school aged children is a key method of improving literacy among all school subjects. I am delighted that school leaders at Moor Nook have selected new titles for the school library and that pupils will be eager to read the books.

The ALCS, a not-for-profit organisation for writers, ensure writers are paid for uses of their work. They also campaign on issues important to writers such as literacy and copyright. Their copyright education programme introduces learners to concepts such as plagiarism. The resources are free to download and follow the National Curriculum, which are aimed at different age groups.
