I was delighted to attend the grand opening of the Lancaster University School of Mathematics (LUSoM) on London Road, in conjunction with Cardinal Newman College.
From left: Peter Tiltman , Head, LUSoM, Jan Grabowski, Associate Dean for Engagement and Internationalisation, Mark Hendrick, Professor Wendy Robinson of Lancaster University, Len Hampson, Chair of Rigby Education Trust, Nick Burnham, Principal, Cardinal Newman College.
This brand new purpose built institution is a specialist maths school where talented young mathematicians can excel whilst following a challenging A-Level curriculum.
The students gave me an informative tour of the classrooms and facilities, whilst diligently answering questions from the group. The educational offer includes small class sizes and dedicated specialist teachers. Students reported how at ease they feel in their new learning environment, especially alongside other students equally passionate about maths and related subjects.
