DfE fails to keep covid out of classrooms

After writing to the Education Secretary recently to raise my concerns about the lack of measures in place to prevent covid 19 spreading through Primary School classrooms (see below), I have now received a response from the Minister of State for School Standards.

I am alarmed that there are no plans to vaccinate primary school children, despite many other countries in Europe and worldwide who are already well on their way to expanding vaccination programmes to protect the youngest in their society.

The surging number of covid cases in schools and more generally has resulted in higher numbers of teacher, pupil and staff absences. While the government say that they understand the importance of not disrupting the education of children, their inadequate measures to cope with the surging cases means that all primary children are being left behind.
