Christmas has always been a good time to reflect on the events of the past year and take stock of what is truly important.
This year has been a tough one for many working families; hikes in energy prices and the inflated cost of living throughout the year has caused much upheaval as we battle to recover from the economic effects of Brexit, the Covid19 pandemic and the invasion of Ukraine. This was of course against a backdrop of political instability whilst the revolving doors of 10 Downing Street saw the arrival and departure of three Prime Ministers.
As we look to the year ahead; to the coronation of King Charles III; my own Private Members Bill on Co-operatives progressing through Parliament and a renewed focus on supporting people. I remain hopeful that the new year will bring successes as well as challenges.
I'd like to wish all my constituents, friends and colleagues a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
