Everyone deserves to feel safe at work - abuse should never be part of the job. That’s why I’m supporting Usdaw’s Freedom from Fear campaign during their Respect for Shopworker’s Week.

Retail workers are essential workers on the frontline of serving our communities, they deserve to be treated with respect. In the last twelve months, the Government has invested in policing, with specific projects to tackle retail crime, and that appears to be having an effect. We know that it will take time to turn around 14 years of police cuts.

Did you know…

🤕 1 in 10 retail workers have been assaulted at work

🤬 50% of retail workers have been threatened at work

🗣️ 3 in 4 retail workers have been abused at work

We must put an end to the abuse of shopworkers. Share to show your support for #RespectWeek

If you work in retail in #Preston and have experienced abuse whilst doing your job, then you can report what’s happened to your manager or a senior member of staff. You can also report it to the police.

If it’s an emergency and the crime is still taking place, call 999 and ask for the police.

If it’s not an emergency, call 101 or report it online at: https://doitonline.lancashire.police.uk/PEDisclaimer/Create

If you want to remain anonymous., you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or at: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/
