Mental Health Trained Office

I am pleased to report that my #Preston Constituency Office now has a fully trained Mental Health First Aider.

The training was delivered by MHFA England, and the staff member has the knowledge and skills to spot the signs of a person experiencing poor mental health, the confidence to start a conversation, and the tools to signpost to appropriate support.

My Constituency Office was one of ten MP Constituency Offices that undertook the training. Sadly, many constituents present to my office with severe mental health issues.

As frontline representatives dealing with a wide range of concerns, from housing and benefits to personal crises, my team frequently encounters constituents in distress. In addition, my staff team is also fully trained on dealing with Suicidal and Distressed Callers.

I take mental health issues very seriously and believe that this and related training is vital in ensuring that we can support people effectively.
