I attended the Grand Opening of the new Foxton Centre on 20th Jun e2025.  The event was well attended by other community organisations, stakeholders and young people who use the Foxton Centre.

This Youth and Community Centre based  in Avenham, has benefited from £2m funding from the DCMS Youth Investment Fund and is a major milestone in the Foxton’s vision to create positive futures for Preston’s Young People and their families. The new centre boasts workshop and outdoor spaces including a rooftop balcony, dance and performance areas, a new kitchen, main hall, gaming room and offices.

The young people themselves are at the heart of this development and played a central role in securing the funding, as well as shaping the building’s design and interior décor. Members of the Youth Forum spoke about their involvement as well as their personal journeys, alongside outgoing Chief Executive Jeff Marsh and his successor Cath Coffey (pictured).

The original Foxton building was first set up in 1969 by Reverend Brian Foxton and demolished last year to make way for the replacement building. This building and its people will continue to build on the legacy and provide bright futures for the young people of Preston.
