This year we mark the 80th Anniversary of the end of WW2.
1945 was not only a moment of victory, but it was also a time to reckon with the immense cost of war. Over 380,000 British military personnel lost their lives and countless others returned home physically and emotionally scarred from battle.
In partnership with the Royal British Legion, there is a Constituency Garden of Remembrance installed every November in New Palace Yard, within the Parliamentary estate to honour those who have given their lives in service to our country. A tribute has been planted in remembrance of all those from #Preston who have lost their lives in conflicts around the world.
We remember their sacrifice and those who have served, or continue to serve, to defend and protect our freedoms and way of life.
My sincerest Remembrance commemorations also to:
The Armed Forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth.
The special contribution of families and of the Emergency Services.
The innocent civilians who have lost their lives in conflict and acts of terrorism.
