Mark urges voters to sign up for postal voting ahead of local elections

Sir Mark is urging tens of thousands of young people to vote by post this year for the upcoming local City, Council and Police and Crime Commissioner Elections on 6th May 2021.
Signing up to vote from home only takes two minutes.
Click on the Preston City Council's website and follow the instructions to register for a postal vote before the deadline of 20th April 2020.

He has met Prince Philip on two occasions since being first elected as the Labour Member of Parliament for Preston in 2000.
And today Sir Mark Hendrick has spoken to the Post of his fond memories of the Duke of Edinburgh following his death this morning, April 9.
Sir Mark said: "I have some very fond memories of Prince Philip. The news of his death is very sad, and I am particularly feeling sadness for Her Majesty the Queen today. Philip was her consort for many decades and has been by her side through her reign, so this must be a tremendous blow to her and the family.

A man who quit his job at a caravan company after 20 years has said he left because work "turned into a nightmare" in lockdown and the firm allegedly failed to make furlough payments.

A live online event is set to debate the issue of knife crime in Preston.
The discussion has been organised following the recent tragic deaths of Adam Le Roi in Fishwick and Sarmad Al-Saidi in Deepdale.
In November, more than 350 knives were taken off Lancashire’s streets in a week of intense action on knife crime.
Guest speakers will include Preston MP Sir Mark Hendrick and Byron Highton from local anti-knife crime community organisation The JJ Effect.
Sir Mark has given his backing to Labour Leader's call for a national lockdown

Lancashire is to enter Tier 3 lockdown restrictions but Manchester is still resisting the plans with city leaders accusing No10 of trying to make the north a "sacrificial lamb."
The entire county will enter restrictions at midnight on Friday after tense meetings between council leaders, mayors and ministers.
Local reports suggest that pubs and bars not serving food are set to close, but gyms and leisure centres will stay open.
Casinos, bingo halls, bookmakers and betting shops, and soft play areas will also be asked to close.
Mark Hendrick slams government for leaving residents on 'cliff edge'

According to Sir Mark Hendrick MP, nearly 5,300 people living in Preston, which has additional Covid-19 restrictions, face a ‘jobs cliff edge’ in a few weeks’ time.
He says that Chancellor Rishi Sunak is failing to support those businesses and communities most at risk.
The Government’s furlough scheme is due to expire at the end of the month.
