Mark calls for Young Muslims to apply for Oxford Leadership Programme(January 24, 2014)
Mark is calling on Preston’s young Muslims to apply for Oxford University’s Young Leadership Programme during an intensive two-week residential course in September this year to be held at Christ Church, Oxford.
The programme is designed to bring together young Muslims with strong leadership potential to come together and consider key issues affecting British society. It is attended each year by around 25 young British Muslims, male and female, aged under 30 from across the country and from a variety of backgrounds and fields of interest. The joint initiative, now in its ninth year is run by the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and The Prince’s Trust.
Mark said: ‘I would encourage young Muslims from my constituency to apply for this exciting course. I see a lot of leadership potential in the young people of Preston and this would be the perfect opportunity for those who have demonstrated good leadership skills to widen their horizons and make positive contributions to our national life.’
The course will comprise lectures, workshops, discussion groups and visits to prominent national institutions. Guest speakers are drawn from Parliament, academia, non-governmental organisations, the civil service and the media.
The course will run from 31st August to 13th September 2014 and applicants are encouraged to apply early. Bursaries covering costs are available. For more details of how to apply go to: http://www.oxcis.ac.uk/ymlp.html
