Mark attends Ramadan Iftar Dinner(June 01, 2018)
Mark was invited by Preston's interfaith group, The Light Foundation, to join in with an Iftar meal at their 3rd Annual Interfaith Ramadan Dinner at the Quaker Meeting House in Deepdale.
The iftar meal is the traditional meal that Muslims have during the holy month of Ramadan to break their day long fast at sunset, initially by consuming a date with water.
The theme for this year's event was ' Building Bridges Through Friendship and Understanding' and was attended by a number of people from different faiths, as well as atheists and agnostics.
Guests speakers included Shaykh Andrew Idris Watts and Tahir Anwar. Shaikh Andrew gave a talk entitled 'Connecting through Struggle' and how communal activities can help to remove barriers and increase effective dialogue.
