Mark visited the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in Preston to tour the facility and meet with managers and staff members.
The DVLA which is an Executive Agency of the Department for Transport (DfT) and the Fulwood based Preston Office is one of 38 local offices in the UK and also houses an Enforcement Centre which covers Lancashire and Merseyside. Customers can renew their tax discs at the Preston Office and it also maintains an up to date register of drivers and vehicles.
The DVLA delivers a wide range of road safety initiatives in conjunction with the DfT and also plays a major role in crime prevention and crime reduction through enforcement, prosecution and intelligence gathering. The DVLA is consistently awarded for their high level of service to their customers which include the public, vehicle dealers, traders in personalised number plates and vehicle importers. The DVLA in Preston also work in conjunction with the Police, magistrates and civil courts and motor trade associations.
Mark said: “Like most people I had assumed that the Central Office in Swansea dealt with a lot of the work that the Preston office can actually do. I am impressed by the high level of service that people can expect from this Centre and I was particularly interested to read the numerous positive customer feedback forms that I was shown.”
Centre Manager Lesley Boyle said: “We are pleased to welcome Mr Hendrick to our offices. My team work very hard to continually improve our facilities and service by ensuring that customers only have to queue for the shortest period of time, ensuring cost effectiveness, and to strive to exceed turnaround times on all claims, applications, enquiries and requests for advice.”
Customers can call into the Preston DVLA Office on Caxton Road, Fulwood to renew vehicle tax discs, have their driving applications checked and verified and deal with the transfer of cherished numberplates.
